Initiative-provided that legislature must consider passing a law if a certain percentage of people sign a petition in favor of it.

Referendum- this required that a law passed by legislation would have to be submitted to voters for approval

Secret ballot- this would let the voter be able to vote without any pressure from the observers

Recall- this would let the voters be able to petition politicians out of office before their term was up.

17th Amendment- this let the people instead of the state legislators elect the senators.
18th Amendment- Established a nationwide prohibition on the manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages.
19th Amendment- gave women the right to vote.

A secret ballot is a ballot in which only the voter is allowed to see and know about.

The initiative makes it so that the legislature must consider passing a law if enought votes sign a petition to in its favor.

The referendum was another reform that meant any laws or amendments passed by a legislature must be submutted to votes for approval.

The recall was a reform that allowed voters to vote on the removal of elected officials before their term ended.

The 17th amendment made senators be elected by the people, not thre state legislature.

The 18th amendment made the making, transportation, and selling of acholic beverages illegal.

A secret ballot is one that does not allow others to see how a voter votes. It was also a form of reform. Voting in private helped protect citizens against pressure from observers who might change or reconsider their votes.
Initiative was a political reform that was a procedure in which voters ask a legislature to consider a proposed law.
Referendum was also another form of reform that was a practice of allowing voters to approve or disapprove proposed laws.
Recall was another form of reform that was a procedure by which voters can remove elected officials before their term expires.
The 17th amendment in 1913 made the Senate more democratic by providing that senators be elected directly by the people. This changed the previous specification that state legislatures elect senators, but this method encouraged bribery.
The 18th amendment in 1919 established a nationwide prohibition on the manufacturer, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages. (Prohibition)
The 19th amendment in 1920 granted women throughout the nation the right to vote. By this time, 29 states had already allowed women to vote in some elections.
