1. Identify the economic, political, social, and religious factors in Europe in the 1500s and 1600s that spurred English colonization of North America.
2. Describe Jamestown and explain how geography influenced the nature of the settlement.
3. Compare and contrast the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies in terms of economic, social, political, and religious characteristics.
4. Identify the main figures in the founding of the English colonies.
5. Explain the development of the institution of slavery in the plantation colonies.
6. Discuss how English colonists interacted with other groups in North America, particularly Native Americans.
7. Compare and contrast the English colonies to New France and New Spain.
8. Why did the nations of Europe constantly fight with one another during the colonial period?
9. What caused the final showdown between France and Britain over possession North America?
10. How did Britain prevail in the French & Indian War and what impact did the victory have in the American colonies?
