1) naacp- nation association for the advacnement of colored poeple. founded in 1909 i worked on behalf of african americans attacking discrimination and segregation.
brown v. board of education - took place in topeka cansas. this case combiend wiht several other cases reach the supreme court in 1952. Thurgood marshall argued that segregated schools were nota nd could not be equal to white school, for that reason segregated schools violated the fourteenth amendmant.
rosa parks- 0n december 1st 1955 she boarded a bus in downtown montgomery alabama. she found an empty seat inthe white section of the bus and when the driver toldher to move to the back of the bus she refused, at the next bus stop she was taken off of the bus by police. she was the secretary of the local naacp chapter.
martin luther king- he was a baptist minister who made remarkable speeches that influence african americans all across the united states. he was seen as a major activist for equal rights for african americans.
sclc- southern christian leadership confrence. they elected mlk as president, they suggested ways to react to taunts and jeers and showed civil rights workers how to protect themselves from violent attacks. they also showed how to organize people and how to identify targets for protest.
Martin Luther King Jr studied Gandhi, who also practiced nonviolent protest.They used protest methods based on civil disobedience, refusing to obey laws they they considered unjust. Martin Luther used these techniques to the struggle for African American rights in the US. Protesters found ways to protect themselves from violent attacks. MLKJr used the nonviolent path to demonstrate that all races should have equal rights. People felt sympathy for well dressed and innocent people that were being dragged off to jail.
